Lisa and Nikki's Friday Finds!

Hi Friends:

What has inspired and delighted us this week? Here they are - the sights, sounds, tastes and one-of-a-kinds we loved!
Up in our neck of the woods, summer has finally arrived; spring never made it! We love the idea of using vintage wash tubs for container gardening. Find these at flea markets and get your herbs and veggies going!
Fill a tray with vintage tomato pincushions for a summery centerpiece! They really make us think of the real thing!
Make a bouquet with vintage glass beaded flowers. The workmanship leaves us in awe!
Look at this spotted during Texas Antique Week. Typewriter key magnets - what a great idea for notes on the fridge!
Are you familiar with DoSomething.org? It's one of the largest organizations of young people working for social change. We love their Thumb Wars Campaign where you can send friends thumb socks to encourage them not to text and drive. Now that's doing something!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

Five Ways to Use a Vintage Sugar Bowl!

Hi Friends:

It's no secret we love layering in one-of-a-kind vintage items to create warmth and charm. Repurposing pieces extends their usefulness and adds an unexpected element. With that said, here are our top five ways to use a vintage sugar bowl:
Add flowers and you have a sweet vase. A large silver plated sugar bowl looks great with a small ivy plant tucked inside.
Cut glass sugar bowls add a little functional elegance to cosmetics and toiletries.
A great way to corral office supplies!
Perfect for serving nuts and candies!
And then, of course, you could use them for sugar!

Find them at antique stores and flea markets or contact Georgia's if you see one you can't live without; we keep them in stock!

Lisa and Nikki's Friday Vintage Finds!

Chicago Botanic Garden (no filter)
Hi Friends:

We've got some catching up to do! We've been on the road, participating in shows and have so much to share with you. So from Georgia to Cleveland to the Chicago Botanic Garden Antiques and Garden Fair - here they are, the vintage finds and one-of-a-kinds that have inspired and delighted us. And yes, more to come!
How wonderful is this over-sized ottoman upholstered in vintage grain sack fabric!
A glimpse at Georgia's booth at the Chicago Botanic Garden Antiques and Garden Fair.
This antique wrought iron fence piece is in Georgia's inventory. It's perfect for a headboard, wall hanging or used in a coffee table like the one below.

Beautiful embroidered linen sachets with vintage lace trim. These sachets were filled with French lavender. What a great gift for the bride-to-be!
Vintage English Winstanley Pottery brown hares with glass eyes from Poverty Hollow Enterprises. We loved these guys ranging in size from 6 to 12 inches. How perfect are they for decorating a spring table or tucking into a sideboard or mantel.
Also from Poverty Hollow, vintage ceramic dog and cat head wine stoppers! Too cute!
And this 1920's Chesterfield sofa! Found in a home library in England, we thought it was in amazing shape. "Chester" came home with us!

Have a good weekend, friends!

Lisa and Nikki's Friday Finds!

Happy Friday Friends:

What has inspired and delighted us this week? Here they are - the sights, sounds, tastes and one-of-a-kinds we loved!
Check out this vintage brass lamp. We love the over-sized shade and the bulbous base. This beauty is for sale, contact us if you are interested.
On our recent trip to Nashville, we fell for this cast iron vase that was sitting in a local antique store. We can't wait to fill it with moss and a cute plant for display (and sale) at the upcoming Chicago Botanic Garden Antiques and Garden Fair. If you are local, we'd love to see you!
How pretty is this vintage Akro agate slag glass planter! We love.
We're jealous! This picture of beignets and cafe au lait was sent to us from our favorite patron of Cafe du Monde in New Orleans. Thank you for the pic, but next time send the beignets!

Top 3 Places for a Mirrored Vanity Tray!

Mirror, mirror on the vanity? ...or dresser, or chest of drawers, or even the wall! That's right, we are talking about mirrored vanity trays and the three places we love them most.

Here goes:
1. We love a mirrored tray where else but in a bathroom. These vintage beauties, that come in an array of shapes and sizes, are perfect for  perfume bottles and miscellaneous vessels that hold everything from jewelry to bathroom essentials.
2. How about placing a large tray on a dresser or chest of drawers in the bedroom. Not only will the gold filigree add elegance and charm to your dresser top, but the tray is also a perfect place to display a cute flower arrangement or corral sentimental collectibles.
3. And finally, on a wall. Add a mirrored tray to a gallery wall or display a collection of vanity trays on a wall. The possibilities are endless with these oh so usable relics from the past.
